Abstract
Malaria is an infectious disease caused by the plasmodium parasite. Malaria is transmitted through the bite of a female Anopheles spp mosquito which contains plasmodium. Anopheles spp mosquitoes are the main factor for transmitting malaria. The existence and survival of Anopheles spp is strongly influenced by the conditions of the breeding site. Malaria is an important tropical parasitic disease in the world, and is still a major health problem. In Indonesia in 2020, there were 226,364 cases of malaria recorded. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of Anopheles spp. by using literature studies within the last 10 years (2012-2022). The method used was a literature review with a literature search component, inclusion-exclusion criteria, and selection. The number of samples of this research is 7 samples of research articles. The results showed that there were several factors that most dominantly influenced the presence of Anopheles spp. larvae. namely physical, chemical and biological characteristics consisting of water temperature (6 articles), water pH (6 articles), presence of aquatic plants (6 articles), water salinity (4 articles), exposure to sunlight (4 articles). It is hoped that people in malaria endemic areas will be able to break the chain of Anopheles spp. by raising fish in breeding places, cleaning ponds, ditches, ponds from aquatic plants, draining stagnant water.
