Abstract

Background: Schizophrenia is a medical diagnosis of chronic severe mental disorders. The prevalence of household members with schizophrenia or psychosis is 7% per 1000. People with schizophrenia are characterized by delusional reality disturbances and hallucinations. Hallucinations are situations in which a person feels they hear voices or see things that are not there but are not felt by other people. Hallucinations are divided into five types, namely visual hallucinations, auditory hallucinations, hallucinations of taste, olfactory hallucinations, and tactile hallucinations. Auditory hallucinations are the most common in schizophrenia. Auditory hallucinations or conditions in which a person hears sounds that other people cannot hear, for example the sound of footsteps, the sound of knocking on a door, the sound of people talking, cheers, and so on. The contents of the sound heard by the sufferer of auditory hallucinations are positive and negative sounds, whereas the types of auditory hallucinations are classified into moderate (mild) and severe (severe). Purpose: This study aims to find out how the description of auditory hallucination types is seen from hallucinations in patients with chronic mental disorders. Methods: This research is quantitative research with a descriptive narrative research design. The sampling technique by means of non-probability sampling is purposive sampling of 30 respondents. Data collection was carried out using semi-open questionnaires and interviews. Research Results: The results showed that most of the types of auditory hallucinations were in the moderate category (83.3%) with hallucinatory content. The content of hallucinations showed that most of the respondents heard more than one voice (60%), most of them only heard one voice and the voices always spoke separately or one by one (40%) with the most frequency occurring about once a day (40%) and the greatest duration occurring for a few minutes (63.3%), hypnagogic/hypnopompic hallucinations most of the voices appear at any time of the day (60 %).
