Abstract

Handover is a way of conveying and receiving something (report) related to the patient's condition and has a specific goal, namely communicating information about the patient's condition in previous nursing care. The results of the preliminary study show that handover delivery in the Surakarta Orthopedic Hospital room uses the SBAR mechanism. Purpose: This study aims to describe the implementation of the handover of nurses in the inpatient room of the Surakarta Orthopedic Hospital. The research was conducted from December 2022 – January 2023. Methods: This type of research is quantitative using a descriptive narrative research design. Respondents in this study were conducted in 4 wards and handovers were carried out 42 times in 2 weeks. The sampling strategy used is Total Sampling with the criteria of carrying out handover activities when researchers make observations. Collecting data using an observation sheet implementation of handover. Results: The research results obtained in the implementation of the weighing of nurses were in the sufficient category with 17 times of carrying out of the weighing and having a percentage of 40%. Good category with 25 times the implementation of handover and has a percentage of 60%. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the implementation of handover in the inpatient room of the Surakarta Orthopedic Hospital is in a good category. Handover is carried out at every change of shift. The principles and contents of the handover have been carried out and conveyed properly during the handover of nurses.
