Abstract

The health problem that is often experienced by young women related to their monthly menstrual periods is anemia. Anemia or what we are more familiar with as lack of blood is a condition in which the level of hemoglobin in the blood is less than normal. This anemia can cause health problems such as growth inhibition, both body cells and brain cells if left alone. In adolescents anemia can have a negative impact on decreased immunity, concentration, learning achievement, adolescent fitness and productivity. The purpose of this study was to find out whether or not there was a correlation between the level of knowledge about anemia and anemia prevention behavior in female adolescents. This research is a quantitative study using correlational methods. This activity involved 55 young female respondents. Sampling in this study used a proportional random sampling technique from all female adolescent respondents in class X. The results of this study were carried out by cross tabulation tests (crosstabs) first, then statistical tests were carried out using a software application in the form of the Spearman Rho test because the results of the research data were ordinal-ordinal. Based on the research results, it was found that there was a correlation between the level of knowledge about anemia and anemia prevention behavior in female students at SMA Negeri 1 Kedunggalar with a significance value of 0.000 less than 0.05, so there was a correlation between the level of knowledge and prevention behavior, with a correlation coefficient value of 0.566 which means has a strong correlation and a direct relationship.
