Abstract

This research aims to describe the role of home industry meuble in absorbing labor in Sukolilo Village and to find out the obstacles faced by meuble business actors and how to overcome the obstacles encountered. This study uses a type of qualitative research with a case etnography design. The research subject, namely the home industry meuble business actors and several workers in the home industry meuble in Sukolilo Village. Data collection techniques used include interviews, observation, and documentation. The validity of the data is carried out by triangulation of the source. Data analysis techniques used are data collection, data reduction, data display, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the role of home industry meuble in Sukolilo village played a role in being able to provide employment opportunities both as a main job and as a side job other than in the agricultural sector. With the existence of a home industry furniture in Sukolilo Village is expected to absorb workers in the village and surrounding areas and provide additional income for workers. In absorbing home industry meuble workers are supported by the factor that meuble products are very much, interested in consumers so that they need more labor to produce them and also the ease of finding a workforce that does not require high education. There are obstacles faced in the form of capital and scarcity of raw materials. Solutions to overcome these obstacles include making loans to BRI banks in Sukolilo District that can provide People's Business Credit (KUR) to overcome capital limitations. By adding capital to the raw material budget to get around at any time the price of raw materials is unstable by buying a lot of raw materials at the subscription place, some offer with alternative raw materials to customers and also add variations in more modern models to attract consumers.
