Abstract

The film Sobat Ambyar is a film with a musical drama concept featuring a romance story. A broken heart is a condition where a person feels down and helpless and cannot control his emotions properly. The representations discussed in this study focus on the representation of a broken heart shown in the film Sobat Ambyar. This study aims to find out how a broken heart is represented in the film Sobat Ambyar and to find out the denotation and connotation in the film Sobat Ambyar. The approach used in this study is descriptive qualitative through a critical paradigm. By using the semiotic method of Roland Barthes by analyzing connotations, denotations and myths. The sampling method used is a purposive sampling technique with the provisions of a broken heart scene. The results of this study show that the film Sobat Ambyar represents heartbreak in the form of feelings of someone who is traumatized by a partner, deep sadness and withdraws from the social environment and to be free from heartbreak by doing positive things. Efforts to treat someone from a broken heart to depression is by doing positive things by doing activities with friends or watching concerts so they don't get lost in sadness.
