Abstract

Background : Data from preventing the number of men who are likely to be exposed to gout are higher than women. The majority of Posyandu respondents will experience degenerative disease. Diseases that often occur in respondents include; Arthritis gout, hypertension, and bone disorders. Gouty arthritis is the main disease that attacks Posyandu respondents and can interfere with activity and may reduce sleep quality. Interest to come to the elderly posyandu requires both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Motivation is a driver both inside and outside the individual in carrying out activities. Motivation can be done with family support. Objective : This research aims to determine the relationship between family support and the motivation of gout patients in participating in posyandu activities. Methods : This research method is a quantitative research with correlational descriptive design through a cross sectional approach. Respondents of this study were suffering from gout as many as 40 respondents taken using the Purposive Sampling method at the Posyandu Dewi Sri, Posyandu Seger Waras, Posyandu Ngudiwarsi from 110 respondents who had been examined. Using bivariate analysis with Chi-Square statistical tests. Results : The results in this study there is a relationship between family support and motivation in participating in posyandu activities. Statistical tests show P-value (0.024)> Alpha (0.05), then H0 is rejected and H1 is received with a very low relationship strength value. Conclusion: There is a relationship between family support and the motivation of gout sufferers in participating in posyandu activities. Keywords: Family support, Older people’s motivation, Gout.
