Abstract

The increasing need for concrete makes research on the characteristics of concrete needed. One of the characteristics of high quality concrete is to determine the value of compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, split tensile strength, permeability and the effect of using cement on high quality concrete with a maximum aggregate size of 20 mm. Mix design based on SNI-03-6468-2000 with a design compressive strength of 50 MPa, with a concrete cylinder with a diameter of 150 mm and a length of 300 mm, for testing compressive strength, modulus of elasticity and split tensile strength consisting of five samples, while for permeability testing using three samples with 28 days old. The constituent materials consist of coarse aggregate, fine aggregate, cement, water, superplasticizer and fly ash. The compressive strength value is 47.62 MPa, with a decrease of 4.77% from the design compressive strength. The elastic modulus value is 23411 MPa with ACI validation of 29800 MPa. The value of split tensile strength is 5.33 MPa with a difference of 11.19% from the compressive strength. Permeability of concrete with a penetration value of 7.7 mm, for a coefficient value of 2.4807.10-6 m/s. Comparison with the use of a maximum aggregate size of 12,5 mm shows that the cement requirement has increased by 0,54% and the difference in compressive strength is 5.12% lower, shows the larger the aggregate size, the lower the compressive strength value.
