Abstract

The role of the teacher is very important in the process of forming student character, in which this character must be formed early so that later it will have a positive impact on students in learning and in everyday life. In order to achieve the goal of being able to shape the character of student discipline, it is necessary to have a better role for a teacher in guiding and directing students to be better. This study aims to: 1. To describe the role of Islamic religious education teachers in the formation of the disciplinary character of class VII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Kebakkramat. 2. To describe the constraints of Islamic religious education teachers in the formation of the disciplinary character of class VII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Kebakkramat. In this research is a type of field research that utilizes a phenomenological approach, researchers use data collection techniques, namely interviews, observation, documentation. Data analysis with descriptive qualitative analysis used three techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusions. The results showed that the role of the Islamic Religious Education teacher in the formation of the disciplinary character of class VII students at SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Kebakkramat was by: 1) exemplary. 2) tutors. 3) leadership/leadership. 3) mentors. 4) motivators. 5) evaluators. The obstacles in increasing student learning motivation are 1) constraints from students, 2) family factors, 3) constraints from schools or teachers, 4) environment.
