Abstract

Social media is online media that is flexible and makes it easier for users to get information, establish communication between fellow users without meeting face to face or meeting in person. One of Tik Yok's social media is starting to be loved by all groups, especially teenagers, because they can freely create content according to their creative ideas. However, there are several obstacles to the application, such as the absence of filters for minors, conditions that can be accessed by all ages, and content that can have an adverse impact on future technological developments and child psychology. At the beginning of its launch, the application had several problems described in the previous sentence. Users complained about the problem and it happened several times. However, they do not know where to report these problems and what efforts are made in obtaining consumer rights protection. In terms of protecting social media users' personal data through consumer protection in order to protect every consumer's rights, the government through Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning consumer protection, so that in their services service providers must meet the criteria or obligations of service providers in consumer protection. The purpose of this study is to find out how far legal protection is for consumers in protecting consumers on Tik Tok social media. The method used by the authors in this study is to use a normative juridical approach, which is conceptualized as written norms that are correct, promulgated and made by authorized officials which are the benchmark or as the basis for humans to behave appropriately. This research is descriptive in nature which has the intention to clearly describe various things related to the objects to be studied. The results of the study show that the data under investigation has committed a unilateral violation which caused personal loss for each social media user, which is not in accordance with the Indonesian Law that has been stipulated.
