Abstract

Psychological well-being something that is very valuable and must be maintained properly. Low cause psychological well-being One of them is related to the intensity of using gadgets. The need for awareness to balance the level of intensity of using gadgets so that psychological well-being can be maintained properly. This study aims to determine the relationship between the intensity of using gadgets and psychological well-being in terms of student gender. The subjects in this study were 189 active undergraduate students at Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta. The research method used is a quantitative method with data collection techniques in the form of accidental sampling and correlational test using a simple regression test on both variables, as well as using a different test independent paired t-test on gender categorization. The results show a correlation value (r) of -0.154 with p = 0.00 (p <0.05), which means that there is a significant negative relationship between the intensity of gadget use and psychological well-being student. The results of the different test also prove a significant value (sig) of 0.398 with (p > 0.05) which means there is no significant difference in gender with the intensity variable of gadget use and a significance value of 0.000 (p <0.05) which means there is significant differences in gender with variables psychological well-being.
