Abstract

Mu'a>syarah bi al-ma'ru>f is one of the terms in the Qur'an which discusses the relationship between husband and wife. In the view of the Arab commentators of the Qur'an, the term Mu'a>syarah bi al-ma'ru>f is divided into 3 classifications of meaning, including: (1) advising to do good to wives, (2) advising to do good to women in the family, (3) advising the husband to do good to his wife in the divorce process (withhold well or release properly). of the three classifications of the meaning of mu'a>syarah bi al-ma'ru>f, this research will conduct research on the meaning of mu'a>syarah bi al-ma'ru>f in the view of Hasbi ash Shiddieqy, Hamka and Quraish Shihab as a native Indonesian mufassir. This research has a descriptive-comparative approach. The descriptive method has the goal of making an accurate picture of a fact so that it can be used to compare certain facts. The comparative method is often used to help explain a concept, principle or idea. The results of this study are as follows, (1) according to Hasbi ash Shiddieqy, mu'a>syarah bi al-ma'ru>f is the obligation for the husband to have good intercourse with his wife, by pleasing her in accordance with the shari'ah and the provisions in general, does not complicate his livelihood and does not hurt his feelings and actions, (2) according to Hamka, mu'a>syarah bi al-ma'ru>f is the proper treatment of a husband towards his wife or association of husband and wife which is recognized as good and proper by general public, (3) according to Quraish Shihab, mu'a>syarah bi al-ma'ru>f means good association in the family or good relationship between husband and wife which is not only based on love but also on trust and responsibility.
