Abstract
A power transformer is an electrical device that increases and decreases voltage. This equipment is very important part of the power supply system, so transformer must have a protection system that can protect or reduce disturbances to the transformer's internal and external transformers. Differential relay is the main protection system in transformer protection. Differential relays work by comparing input current with output current on relay. When differential relay detects a fault, it instructs circuit breaker (CB) to interrupt or cut off the supply. The differential relay will work properly when the setting value is correct. In this study the method used to collect required data at Masaran 150 kV Substation and after the research was completed and the required data was collected, the next procedure was to perform calculations and simulations on the ETAP software. Several things in mathematical calculations must be considered, namely: CT ratio values, mismatch errors, CT secondary currents, differential currents, holding currents, percentjslope, and calculation of current setting values. Thejresults obtained from thejcalculations are: CT ratio value on primary side is 300:1 A while on the secondary side is 2000:5 A, thejmismatch errorjvalue on primary side is 0.19%, secondaryjside is 1.022%, the CT secondary current value on thejprimaryjside is 0.77 A and secondaryjside 0.78 A, differential current value is 0.01 A, holding current value is 0.775 A, percent slope 1 value is 0.12%, percent slope 2 value is 0.25%, setting current value is 0.93 A. Operating system simulation differential relay with ETAP software results when differential relay reads that there is a disturbance in power transformerjdifferential relay will operate at 0jms while CB1jandjCB2 will operate at 30.0 msjand 100 ms.
