Abstract
This research is motivated by the virtue of memorizing the al-Qur'an so that people who memorize the al-Qur'an get enjoyment in the world and in the hereafter, with the virtue of memorizing the al-Qur'an, there are programs that support memorizing the al-Qur'an. one of them is SMP Al-Irsyad Kota Tegal which prioritizes the al-Qur'an memorization program, namely, the Tahfidz and International Curriculum Class (TICC) program. TICC is a special class that has a target of memorizing five juz. This study aims to describe the implementation of Tahfidz and International Curriculum Class (TICC) in improving the ability to memorize the al-Qur'an at SMP Al-Irsyad Kota Tegal in the 2022/2023 academic year and identify the obstacles to the implementation of Tahfidz and International Curriculum Class (TICC) in improving the ability to memorize the al-Qur'an at SMP Al-Irsyad Kota Tegal in the 2022/2023 academic year. This research includes qualitative research and a phenomenological approach. Data collection techniques in this study were observation, interview, and documentation. Data validity using triangulation techniques. Analyzing data by reducing data, presenting data, and verifying data. SMP Al-Irsyad Kota Tegal implemented the Tahfidz and International Curriculum Class (TICC) Program hoping that students can memorize the al-Qur'an. The TICC program, especially the tahfidz program, is implemented in classroom learning activities that are carried out according to a predetermined lesson schedule, namely every week there are five meetings on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Related to the method applied at SMP Al-Irsyad Kota Tegal, there is no specific method used in the process of memorizing the al-Qur'an. found in research related to research methods students use the talaqqi method and the takrir or repetition method. The steps of implementing tahfidz in the classroom are: The teacher opens the lesson with greetings, the teacher asks students to open the Qur'an to memorize or repeat their memorization which will be deposited within 15 minutes, then the students prepare the memorization to be deposited, then the students deposit their memorization to the teacher in turn. The obstacles in improving the ability to memorize the al-Qur'an at SMP Al-Irsyad Kota Tegal are; Not mastering makhorijul huruf and tajweed, not being serious, forgetting, doubting the verses that are almost the same, laziness, too much schoolwork and collecting assignments together, lack of parental support when at home in terms of learning guidance.
