Abstract

This thesis discusses the application of YouTube learning media using a contextual teaching learning strategy as a reinforcement of students' empathy for learning at SD Muhammadiyah PK Kottabarat. The purpose of this study was to describe the application of YouTube learning media, the Contextual Teaching Learning approach as a reinforcer of empathy as well as supporting and inhibiting factors. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The research instruments were: the researcher as the key instrument, using interview guidelines, observation, and documentation. The informants interviewed were students and teachers of relevant subjects including Pkn, Science and Religion class V. The results showed that the application of YouTube media and CTL strategies as reinforcement of empathy was carried out through relevant learning processes using the independent learning curriculum combined with the use of media internet/YouTube technology-based learning. This has a great impact on strengthening the quality of learning, increasing students' appreciation of social norms and values, humanity, and forming students' empathetic attitudes. The implementation of the CTL approach is strongly influenced by several factors, including: existing facilities and infrastructure, competence and academic qualifications of teachers, activeness of teachers in participating in activities, and implementation of an independent learning curriculum that is accommodative to contextual strategies, literacy, strengthening character education, and the use of YouTube-based learning media.
