Abstract

Single-phase induction motors are one type of alternating current electric motor that are commonly used because of their ease of operation, simple construction and good efficiency, but they have the disadvantage of limited scope of control and the difficulty of continuous monitoring. These shortcomings can be overcome by the Internet of Things (IoT) which is applied to remote control and monitoring of single-phase induction motors. This tool contains Arduino Nano V3 and NodeMCU ESP8266 as a microcontroller and is able to connect to the internet, solid state relay and AC light dimmer which regulates the amount of current towards a single-phase induction motor, PZEM-004T to read the values of voltage, current, power, power factor, and frequency, and LCD 16x2 to display information from PZEM-004T on the device. This tool will be controlled via a smartphone via the blynk application and synchronized with the NodeMCU ESP8266. Based on the research results, the speed of a single-phase induction motor can be controlled via a slider in the blynk application with a 25% increase range every 5 seconds, and the results can be observed in the blynk application and 16x2 LCD with a delay of 2 seconds. The characteristics of the voltage value, power and motor speed are directly proportional to the slider value, while the current value, power factor and frequency will follow the motor nameplate, this is due to the performance of the AC light dimmer.
