Abstract

Students are required to be able to have and develop soft skills and hard skills in college. For this reason, it is very important for students to have high learning motivation in order to realize this ability. This study aims to determine the influence between family support and emotional intelligence on student learning motivation. The method used in this research is quantitative method. The population of this study were active students of S1 Psychology, Surakarta Muhammadiyah University. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling. The sample of this study amounted to 100 respondents. Data collection with measuring instruments family support scale, emotional intelligence scale and learning motivation scale. Data analysis techniques using multiple linear regression analysis techniques with the SPSS 16.0 program. The results of data analysis show that there is a significant influence between family support and emotional intelligence on student learning motivation and thus the research hypothesis is accepted. The effective contribution of family support and emotional intelligence variables to learning motivation is 44.4% with details of family support of 17.06% and emotional intelligence of 27.28% while 55.62% is influenced by other variables.
