Abstract

Physical activity is considered important for reducing the level of weakness, the risk of falling, maintaining function and reducing morbidity experienced by the elderly (elderly). Physical activity is a factor that affects the quality of life which is an individual's perception of physical health, psychology, social relationships and the environment. The current study aimed to determine the relationship between physical activity with the quality of life of the elderly in terms of physical health, psychology, social relationships, and the environment. This is research cross sectional study with an observational design. Participants of the study were elderly in Desa Pucangan ,Kartasura, Sukoharjo, Central Java recruited in a purposive sampling technique. 64 elderly who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria participated in this study. Physical activity were retrieved using PASE questionnaire while WHOQOL-BREF assessed the elderly quality of life The results of the study were analyzed using Spearman Rho and it was found that there was a close relationship between physical activity and each domain of quality of life indicated by a p value <0.05 and a value of r=0.853 for physical health aspects, r=0.900 for psychological aspects, r = 0.860 for the aspect of social relations, and finally r = 0.874 for the environmental aspect.
