Abstract

Flood is a natural disaster that often occurs in Indonesia. Floods will become a problem if the handling is not optimal, causing negative impacts. Pekalongan City is one of the areas that is often hit by floods every year. The high intensity of rainfall that often occurs, the lack of functioning of water catchment areas, and low elevations are the main reasons why Pekalongan City often experiences floods. This study has the objectives of (1) analyzing the potential for flood hazard in the Pekalongan City area, (2) analyzing social vulnerability to flooding that is caused in Pekalongan city, (3) analyzing the risks resulting from a flood disaster in Pekalongan city. The method used in this research is the weighted scoring method and field survey. The sampling method used is stratified random sampling. The data used are primary data and secondary data obtained from field surveys and related agency services. The results of the vulnerability are divided into three classes, namely not vulnerable, vulnerable, and very vulnerable. Based on the results of the analysis, Pekalongan City is included in the category of high risk of flooding. The risk resulting from the calculation of weighting and scoring of hazard and social vulnerability is that the highest district is in West Pekalongan District with a risk value of 326.8, then East Pekalongan district with a risk value of 296.4, and North Pekalongan and South Pekalongan districts with a comparable risk of 281.2.
