Abstract
Surkarta City has experienced an increase population and an increase development activities every year. The increasing population density makes development activities in the Surakarta City. In this development there is a reduction in green open space or land use change from vegetation to non-vegetation, resulting a decrease environmental quality. During 2015 to 2021 the Surakarta City carried out various types of development which reduction area of green open space. The significant reduction in the number of green open spaces over past few years has disrupted environmental balance and sustainability. With the continuous development, it triggers an increase in land surface temperatures. The purpose of this research is to: 1) Knowing the value of land surface temperature in Surakarta City at 2015, 2) Knowing the value of land surface temperature in Surakarta City at 2021, 3) Knowing the difference of land surface temperature in Surakarta City at 2015 and 2021, 4) Knowing the relationship between land surface temperature and existence of green open space in Surakarta City at 2015 and 2021. The imagery used to identify land surface temperature is Landsat 8 L1TP recorded in July, August, and September 2015 and 2021. The average land surface temperature value is Surakarta City in 2015, in July it was 26,69 oC, in August it was 27,21 oC and in September it was 26,21 oC. The average land surface temperature value in Surakarta City in 2021, in July it was 28.48 oC, August is 27,24 oC and September it was 27,84 oC. Based on the linkage analysis, the existing green open space in Surakarta City has influensce the high or low land surface temperature values.
