Abstract
Balance is a skill that plays a very important role in the activities of everyday life. A decrease in the strength of balance either static or dynamic can lead to a decrease in the functional abilities of an elderly person, with continued functional decline interfering with activities that can lead to an inactive state resulting in a decrease in the quality of life of an elderly person. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between postural balance and the daily life activities of the elderly in Pucangan Village, Kartasura, Sukoharjo. This study was conducted using an observational research method with a cross-sectional survey design using purposive sampling techniques, with a total sample of 58 respondents who met the predetermined criteria for inclusion, exclusion, and drop out. Data collection was carried out by measuring static balance with Functional Reach Test and dynamic balance with Timed Up and Go Test, as well as measuring daily life activities with Index Barthel. The results of the smirnov kormogolov normality test obtained from static equilibrium with daily life activities are p value = 0.945 and r value =0.670, while Smirnov's kormogolov test results from dynamic balance with daily life activities are p value = 0.719 and r value = -0.817. Based on the results of the research test, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between postural balance and the daily life activities of the elderly in Pucangan village, Kartasura, Sukoharjo, Central Java.
