Abstract

Hypertension is a disease related to blood pressure. A person is said to be hypertensive when the blood pressure measurement results are ≥ 140 mmHg for systolic and ≥ 90 mmHg for diastolic. Therefore there must be an effort to prevent recurrence of hypertension, one of which is by managing diet. One of the factors that influence the lifestyle of people with hypertension is high or low self-efficacy, if the patient has good self-efficacy he will be able to improve his quality of life, one of which is by obediently managing his diet. The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is a relationship between self-efficacy and managing diet in people with hypertension and comorbidities. Quantitative type research with a correlational descriptive design using a cross sectional approach. The sample for this study used 63 respondents obtained using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used a self-efficacy questionnaire and an eating pattern questionnaire. Statistical tests in this study using the Pearson correlation method obtained a p value <0.005 (p=0.001). The results of the study found that someone with high self-efficacy would be obedient in managing eating patterns. So it can be concluded that there is a relationship between self-efficacy and eating pattern management. Keywords: Hypertension, Self Efficacy, Diet
