Abstract

Quiz is a short test in the form of written or verbal questions and is usually used for evaluation. Most commonly, quizzes are given through paper sheets or using a Google form platform. This method cannot display rankings based on the results obtained by the participants, while the rankings displayed in leaderboards can increase students' motivation to achieve the highest score. With gamification, one of the elements of games such as challenges and time limits can be utilized in completing the quiz. The leaderboard is used to display the results obtained from the assessment and time. The objective of this research is to develop a quiz management system with a leaderboard feature to support gamification-based learning. This research method uses Research and Development (R&D), with a Waterfall development model including Requirements Definition, System and Software Design, Implementation and Unit Testing, Integration and Unit Testing, and Operation and Maintenance. The system was tested with 32 participants. Before testing, the quiz management system was validated by 1 expert and 1 teacher who both have more than 5 years of experience in their respective fields. During the validation, there were several inputs, such as the initial web display having an incorrect description of the quiz management system, and improvements were made to increase the appeal of the description and clearly and accurately convey important points. Data was collected using the System Usability Scale (SUS) instrument distributed to 32 students. After analysis, an average result of 88.359 was obtained, which falls into the excellent category with a grade scale of B. Thus, it can be concluded that this quiz management system is good and can be accepted as a quiz management system to support gamification-based learning.
