Abstract
Tugu Subdistrict has a fairly large coastal area, this condition allows Tugu Subdistrict to grow mangroves properly. The functions and benefits of mangrove plants are very large for coastal life, one of which is to prevent abrasion and intuition of sea water. This situation is interesting to study so that mangroves can provide these functions to the fullest. The research objectives were to identify the distribution of mangrove plants, identify the density of mangrove plants, and analyze the health level of mangrove plants in Tugu District. This study uses image interpretation methods from NDVI transformation and Supervised Classification, as well as laboratory analysis. The results showed (1) The distribution of mangrove plants that grow well is dominantly scattered in the northern coastal area of Tugu District with a clustering pattern. (2) The density level of mangroves is dominated by the rare density level which is 189.14 Ha or 70% of the total area of mangrove plants. The medium category mangroves cover an area of 36.42 hectares and a dense density of 37.03 hectares. (3) High mangrove health is in the North Coastal Area of Tugu, medium health is in the watershed area, and low mangrove health is in the pond area.
