Abstract

This study discusses about construction identity by female fans F.C. Barcelona on Instagram personal accounts. Football is a sport that is very popular with people all over the world, also in Indonesia, they not only fans of clubs from their country but also fans club from other country, one of them is FC Barcelona. F.C. Barcelona is a football club originating from Spain which has been formed since 1899. Previously, football fans were mostly favored by men, along with the development of the football era, women were also favored by women as well as F.C. Barcelona. Women who like football have different reasons, including friends, relatives, partners and other factors. The purpose of this study is to find out how female fans of Barcelona construct identity on their Instagram personal account. This study uses a phenomenological approach, to select informants, the researcher uses purposive sampling method and techniques data collection using source triangulation, namely interviews, observation and documentation. The results showed that the interviewees wanted to construct their identity as F.C. Barcelona fans who really support the club. To show himself as a fan, they does various things, such as posting something related to F.C. Barcelona on his personal Instagram, following the community, and buying attributes to show identity as a fan of F.C. Barcelona in real lie.
