Abstract

The purpose of this study was to design a vertical wind turbine (TASV) with a focus on determining the optimal number of blades. This research is a continuation of previous research that focuses on determining the angle of attack - 5°, 0°, 5°, 10°, 15°, 20°, 25°, 30°, 35° and it is found that the optimum angle of attack is at an angle of 15°. °. Variable measurements are carried out in two ways, namely by using a multimeter and an Arduino-based digital system. The method used is to take data directly in the wind tunnel by varying the number of blades 2, 3 and 4. The parameters measured are turbine rotation speed, current, voltage, power, rotation efficiency, power coefficient (Cp) and Tip Speed Ratio ( TSR). The test results show the optimal turbine rotation with and without a generator at the number of blades 2 of 3935 rpm and 1530 rpm. Optimal power measured using a multimeter and with Arduino obtained the optimal value for the number of blades 2 with a value of 0.1241472 Watt and 0.1251257 Watt. The optimum rotation efficiency is obtained at the number of blades 4 with a value of 45.9067 %.0.0002355. Optimum Cp and TSR with wind speed 2.5 and 5 m/s obtained at the number of 3 blades with value 0.00225 and 0.02732 with TSR value 0.91 and 1.20. Furthermore, the optimum Cp and TSR values for wind speed variations 7.5 and 10 m/s were obtained for the number of blades 2 with values of 0.03751 and 0.02413 with TSR values 1.18 and 1.28.
