Abstract

Background : Elderly is the process of the end of life for a person, in which the aging process will occur with a decrease in the ability to function, and the strength of muscle mass. One of the psychological problems that commonly occur in the elderly is anxiety. Anxiety is a feeling of excessive worry about events that are unclear and non-specific ((Deti Dariah, 2015). The impact of excessive worry in the elderly will cause movement delays in the activities of the elderly, which also has an impact on physiotherapy studies. Anxiety can also affect sleep quality. Sleep quality is related to the NREM and REM that a person experiences in the sleep cycle. Anxiety is divided into mild, moderate, severe anxiety, panic (Fitri & Ifdil, 2016). Objective: To find out whether there is a relationship between anxiety levels and quality of sleep in the elderly at Posyandu Lansia Melati 4 Delanggu Klaten, Central Java. Methods: The method used is Cross Sectional with a correlation research design. The number of the elderly population is 50 people with a sampling technique using a significant level of 5%, a total of 44 people are obtained and using the inclusion criteria, namely the elderly aged over 45 years, and willing to be a sample with an informed consent form. Results: The results of research at Posyandu Lansia, Melati IV, Delanggu, Klaten, Central Java, 1) used a characteristic test to describe each of the variables obtained where male sex had a presentation rate (6.8%) and women had a percentage rate (93.2 %), ages 45-50 years (0%), 51-56 years (0%), 57-62 years (25%), 63-68 years (34.1%), 69-74 years (18, 2%), 75-80 years (13.6%), 81-84 years (9.1%) and for employment, the elderly as housewives have a percentage of (59.2%). (2) This study used the Shapiro Wilk normality test with sample X, namely the level of anxiety with normally distributed results with a value of (0.132) and sample Y, namely sleep quality with results not normally distributed with a value of (0.025) 3) Finally, this study uses the Pearson bivariate correlation test to see whether there is a relationship or not between variables X and Y where the results obtained are not related to the p-value (0.059), and negative traits. Where if variable X increases then variable Y decrease, vice versa. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study for a week, it can be concluded that there is no relationship between anxiety levels and sleep quality in the elderly at Posyandu Melati IV Delanggu Klaten, Central Java and is negative with a p-value correlation value of (-0.059). This means that when anxiety increases, sleep quality decreases, vice verca.
