Abstract

Technological developments have led to advances in the field of communication that help interact with each other without the limitations of distance and time. Instagram social media, especially the instastory feature, supports hanging out activities to share photos and videos. This study aims to analyze and describe the lifestyle of hanging out in a cafe by teenagers using Instagram stories. The theory used in this research is lifestyle theory which assumes that in a lifestyle, a distinction arises from the choice of consumption of something that wants to look different from other groups. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews with 13 informants. Analysis of research data using Domain Analysis. The results of this study state that hanging out activities in cafes are displayed on Instastory social media to show where their social class is different, get self-existence, and self-image.
