Abstract

Background: Myofascial pain syndrome is chronic muscle pain characterized by the presence of trigger points. Trigger points are hypersensitive pain points located in tight or strained muscles (ligaments). One of the pain relief treatments for myofascial pain syndrome is myofascial release and physical therapy. Myofascial release has been shown to be effective in reducing pain and increasing range of motion in the neck. Kinesio taping is designed to support the body's natural healing process by supporting and stabilizing muscles and joints without restricting movement and joints. Research objective: The aim of this study was to determine the benefits of kinesio taping and myofacial relaxation to reduce spasm of the upper trapezius muscle. Research method: This study uses a quasi-experimental approach, which is a type of experiment to determine the effect of two groups with a particular treatment. The research design used a pretest and posttest with a control group design. Results: Based on the results of a 4-week study, kinesio taping and myofacial relaxation are known to have an effect on relieving upper trapezius spasm pain in the online game community in Banyuwangi Regency.
