Abstract

The burden of nutritional problems in Indonesia is the triple burden of malnutrition or the triple burden of malnutrition. Toddlers who experience nutritional deficiencies can affect productivity, decrease the level of immunity, decrease the level of intelligence, and the risk of death. The nutritional status of children under five is influenced by various factors including food intake and infectious diseases. Toddlers who do not get exclusive breastfeeding have an impact on health, namely they are susceptible to infectious diseases. Consumption of diverse foods can improve the nutritional status of toddlers in the process of growth and development. This study aims to determine the relationship between dietary diversity and history of exclusive breastfeeding with the nutritional status of toddlers in Mranggen Village, Polokarto District, Sukoharjo Regency. This type of research is an observational study with a cross sectional approach. The sample consisted of 64 toddlers who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sampling technique uses simple random sampling. Methods of data collection using questionnaires and interviews with the Individual Dietary Diversity Score form. The results showed that based on the Chi-Square test between food diversity and the nutritional status of toddlers, the value of p = 0.733 was obtained, while the history of exclusive breastfeeding and nutritional status obtained a p value of 0.876. From this study it can be concluded that there is no significant relationship between consumption of various foods and a history of exclusive breastfeeding on the nutritional status of toddlers aged 12-59 months in Mranggen Village. From the research that has been carried out, it is necessary to modify data collection on diverse food consumption with data instruments other than the Individual Dietary Diversity Score to describe food consumption for toddlers.
