Abstract

Academic procrastination is a common phenomenon where it is estimated that around 70% of students procrastinate on assignments related to their academics. The most frequent consequence of this delay is poor individual performance and disruptive organizational functioning. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between self-regulation in learning and social support with student academic procrastination. The research was conducted using a correlational quantitative approach. The population in this study are students at the Muhammadiyah University of Surakarta who are currently pursuing bachelor's degrees from the 2017-2021 class in all majors with an age range of 18-24 years. With a sample of 115 respondents and using a purposive sampling technique. The minimum sample limit uses the Slovin formula (10%). This research uses academic procrastination scale instruments, self-regulation scale in learning and social support scale which is distributed via google form in the form of a questionnaire. In this study using data analysis multiple linear regression models through the SPSS program. The results of the major hypothesis test in this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between self-regulation in learning and social support with academic procrastination of Muhammadiyah University Surakarta students with an F score of 17,404 and an R value of 0.487 with a sig value of 0.000 (sig ≤0.05). Then, the results of the first minor hypothesis test show that there is a significant negative relationship between self-regulation in learning and student academic procrastination with an acquisition of -0.481 with a sig value of 0.000 (sig ≤0.05). The results of the second minor hypothesis test show that there is a significant negative relationship between social support and student academic procrastination with an acquisition of -0.214 with an acquisition of sig 0.011 (sig ≤0.05).
