Abstract

In Indonesia, education is an important thing that is needed in society, nation and state. Education is also a potential developer of every Indonesian citizen because in education there is a religious spiritual cultivation, self-control, personality, intelligence, noble character. This component is a preparation for the future of every citizen, to achieve development in the world of education, it is necessary to master a foreign language, one of which is Arabic in formal education in Indonesia. This study aims (1) to describe the implementation of the Audio Lingual method in learning Arabic at SMP Ar Risalah Sukoharjo, (2) to identify obstacles in implementing Audio Lingual in learning Arabic at SMP IT AR Risalah Sukoharjo. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach, the research subjects are Arabic Subject Teachers, Deputy Head of Curriculum, and researchers also conducted research on several students in each 8th grade of SMP IT AR RISALAH Sukoharjo. The data collection method used in this research is the observation method, the interview method, and the documentation method. Data analysis in this study is qualitative data analysis. The results of the research show that (1) the Arabic language learning process carried out in grade 8 has proven to be effective in the learning process, this is evidenced in the response of students in learning to understand the vocabulary contained in the textbook. (2) The obstacles experienced by educators in teaching Arabic using The first Audiolingual method is boredom in learning Arabic because in learning it only repeats the words of the educator or teacher which makes it seem as if students are fixated on what the educator is talking about. The two students also have not been able to develop words in Arabic because they are only fixated on the language used in learning, therefore students find it difficult to develop the vocabulary.
