Abstract

Undirected urban development has a negative impact on the quality of the urban environment. The impact of this development is the conversion of green open land so that it makes its existence less and less. This study has the objectives of 1) analyzing the classification and distribution of green open space in Surakarta City in 2021; 2) analyzing oxygen demand in Surakarta City in 2020 and predicting oxygen demand in 2030; 3) analyze the area of open green space needed to meet oxygen demand in Surakarta City. The research method used is a visual interpretation and the Gerarchic method. The results of processing the availability of green open space in the city of Surakarta in 2021 are 1131 ha or reaching 24% of the total area where 12.95% is public green open space and 11.06% for private green open space. The total oxygen demand for Surakarta City in 2020 is 2,168,587 kg/day, while the predicted oxygen demand for Surakarta City in 2030 is 2,632,268 kg/day. The results of calculating the area of green open space based on oxygen demand in 2020 are 2,142 ha. Based on the calculation results, an additional 1,011 ha of land is needed to meet the required green open space.
