Abstract
Wedi District is a district that is well-known for its convection industry, the existence of the convection industry is used to improve the economy of the people around Wedi District. This study aims to, (1) find out how the absorption of garment labor (convection). during the covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this study used a purposive sampling method, with a total of 76 respondents with details of 48 respondents in Kalitengah Village and 28 respondents in Pandes Village. The respondents included workers and owners of the garment convection industry. Determination of the sample in this study using a purposive sampling method. The reason for using purposive sampling is because the density of workers in Pandes village is less than in Kalitengah village. The results of the study were, (1) During the Covid-19 pandemic the garment manufacturing industry did not experience a reduction in workforce. (2) Labor absorption did not affect workers' wages because the average wage for workers reached the Minimum Wage in Klaten Regency, namely IDR 2,015,623. , (3) Garment product marketing is carried out in several areas and outside Java, such as Solo, Yogyakarta, Semarang, West Java, East Java, Kalimantan, and Sumatra, but during the Covid-19 pandemic, it experienced a decline because some consumers no longer collaborated with the garment industry in Wedy District.
