Abstract

In social life, we encounter many phenomena that are related to its elements, both in the real world and in cyberspace, even these things have become a habit and are unknowingly ingrained in society. Therefore, more in depth knowledge about the interpretation of the meaning of riya’ in Qur’an and how the law and its consequences really need to be studied by Muslims in order to avoid things that are close to it. The purpose of this research is to describe it in Al-Qur’an from the perspective of al-Marāghī’s interpretation. This study uses a type of library research and a qualitative research approach with thematic methods. The primary data sources in study are the Qur’an and the al-Marāghī’s interpretations. Jurnals, books, articles, and other works that are related to this research are used, then documentation methods are used in data collection as well as descriptive analysis methods in data analysis. The result of various processing and analysis of research data about it in the Qur’an from the perspective of al-Marāghī’s interpretation is to provide an understanding that the meaning of an act of riya’ is an act of showing off done with the hope of being seen and praised by humans, the Qur’an views the act as a disgraceful act and the law is unlawful to do, a prohibited practice has the consequences or dangers mentioned in the Qur’an, namely not being able to reap the result of one’s deeds, obtaining a very heavy reward from Allah, and receiving deception from Allah for the element of deception, while the consequences of the practice of riya’ in are relevant to the phenomena of riya’ that are widespread in modern times. Now, this relevance exist because the consequences thereof are assigned to all practice (work) that have an element of riya’ embedded in their hearts.
