Abstract

The drama series Anne with an E: Seasons 3 is a drama series with the historical drama genre by Moira Walley-Beckett which was adapted from Lucy Maud Montgomery's original novel entitled Anne of Green Gables in 1908. This series has the theme of social construction, namely liberal feminism. Basically Liberal Feminism Pressure with a focus on gender equality or gender equality in the public sphere, especially in the political, social, to equality in education. The purpose of this study is to see how the drama series Anne with an E: Seasons 3 expresses the concept of liberal feminism. The type of research used is qualitative research using Roland Barthes's semiotic analysis method. The research focuses on scenes showing liberal feminism in the drama series Anne with an E: Seasons 3. The results of this study indicate that representations of liberal feminism are divided into 3 (three) categories. First, regarding the representation of liberal feminism in an educational environment shown by a woman who wants an equal education. Second, regarding the representation of liberal feminism in the social environment shown by women who want freedom of opinion in society. Third, regarding the representation of liberal feminism in the political environment shown by women, it requires the addition of women's participation in politics.
