Abstract

Public service advertisements are carried out as an appeal or invitation to the public to take action in changing a habit in the community. This advertisement about preventing the spread of Covid-19 was analyzed using Roland Barthes' semiotic theory to find out the sign in the meaning of denotation, connotation and myth that appears in the public service advertisement. So that the visual signs that appear from each image or symbol of meaning in the public service advertisement video show messages that can change people's behavior during the Covid-19 pandemic. So the formulation of the problem is how public service advertisements can present the prevention of the spread of Covid-19 in Indonesia. In this study, there were six public service advertisements studied, obtained through Youtube of the Directorate of Health Promotion and PM of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia. Obtaining data results showing scenes that represent the prevention of the spread of Covid-19 are classified into several categories including keep wearing masks, keep yourself at a distance, always wash your hands, limit activities when pandemic, implementing health protocols, and adapting new habits.
