Abstract

Fire is a disaster that have a high number of incidents and can cause a significant impact on losses. Major fires will not occur if the workers have the knowledge and skills to carrying out fire emergency response. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and skills of security guards in implementing fire emergency response at RSUD Dr. Moewardi Surakarta. This kind of study used an analytic observational research design with a cross sectional approach which was conducted on 102 security guards at RSUD Dr. Moewardi Surakarta. Sampling in this study used the total population. The analysis technique in this study used the Somers'd correlation test. The results of the somers'd correlation test show that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and skills in implementing fire emergency response with a p value = 0.000 (p <0.05) then Ho is rejected. The results of this test also show the strength of the correlation which is equal to 0.638 which indicates that the correlation is strong with the direction of the + (positive) correlation, which means that the better the security guard's knowledge of fire emergency response, the better the skills of the security guard in carrying out fire emergency response at RSUD Dr. Moewardi Surakarta.
