Abstract

Resistance is a form of defensive attitude that arises in response to injustice in the applied social structure of society. This study explicitly discusses the resistance of Muslim women in facing stereotypes and discrimination in the Netflix series “Elite”. The purpose of this study is to determine the form of resistance used by the object of research and the emergence of resistance, this is obtained from data which is then analyzed using related theories. This research is qualitative with observation and documentation data collection techniques, primary data using purposive sampling while secondary data using library studies. The data is categorized into denotation, connotation, and myth using semiotic analysis by Roland Barthes. The final result of the data obtained will be analyzed using theoretical concepts that will be drawn to conclusions. This study found two types of resistance, namely verbal and non-verbal, which occurred because of discrimination and negative stereotypes.
