Abstract

Operational education is the obligation of Muslims to always protect and maintain the Qur'an, that the Qur'an is a guideline for human life. SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Kartasura is a school that has made Reading and Writing Al-Qur'an a mandatory program for all students to follow. However, the problem in learning to read and write the Qur'an is that many students are not fluent in reading, this indicates that there are several problems if not handled properly. Thus the purpose of this study is to describe the problems of learning to read and write the Qur'an in extracurricular activities for class IX students and to find out the efforts of PAI teachers in overcoming the problems of learning to read and write the Qur'an in extracurricular activities for class IX students. This research is a type of field research using a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. The data validity technique uses triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The data analysis technique used is data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results obtained from this study are that learning problems can be seen from students, namely there are students who are less enthusiastic, and students who are often busy which results in students not focusing on learning to read and write the Qur'an. In terms of the method, namely only using the Iqro method, in terms of the media, namely the lack of incomplete infrastructure media. Problems that often occur are also caused by internal and external problems both from teachers and students. As for the teacher's efforts from problematics, namely understanding the characteristics of children, creating an innovative learning atmosphere, studying recitation, choosing the right time and improving extracurricular skills.
