Abstract
The film The Karate Kid (2010) tells the character formation of a teenager named Dre Parker, who initially became a coward towards his enemies at school until Dre managed to become a Kung Fu athlete who won the tournament by defeating his eternal enemy. The purpose of this study is to analyze semiotics on the formation of the main character, Dre Parker, and identify the factors that influence the formation of character. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with a document study approach. The author found the results of the study, among others, there are several scenes that show the existence of semiotics towards character formation through dialogue which has two indicators, namely concentration and attitude. Another finding is that the influencing factors are divided into two types, namely internal factors containing willingness and motivation, while external factors containing family and coaches.
