Abstract
The essence of occupational health and safety includes two things, the first is as a tool to achieve optimal worker health status and as a tool to increase productivity. Occupational health and safety is a right for workers in the formal and informal sectors. One of the informal sectors referred to here is the jenang industry. Jenang workers in carrying out their daily work often make repetitive movements, especially in the arms. Occupational Diseases (PAK) that can occur in the jenang industry (informal sector) are Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS). This study aims to determine the relationship between work posture and the incidence of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in jenang making workers in Sugihan Village, Tengaran District, Semarang Regency. This analytic observational was carried out using a cross-sectional study design. The population in this study were all workers in several jenang-making industries, totaling 50 people selected by total sampling. Collecting data using questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis was carried out by statistical tests using Kendall's tau-b. Based on the results of the Kendall's tau-b correlation test, the relationship between work attitude and the incidence of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome in jenang making workers in Sugihan Village obtained a significance value (p-value) of 0.446 > 0.05, meaning there is no relationship between work posture and the incidence of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. It is necessary to provide recommendations for ergonomic work stations and provide knowledge about the importance of warming up before starting work so that muscles are not stiff and reduce injuries while working.
