Abstract

Communication is a daily activity carried out by humans, also accustomed to inviting other humans to carry out various activities, all of which require strategies and intentions from humans themselves. This study discusses the inviting strategy used by the characters in the film Raya and The Last Dragon. The purpose of this study is to identify strategies and analyze intentions in the invitations made by the characters by the characters in the film Raya and The Last Dragon. This study uses a qualitative approach with content analysis using the Al-Marani framework and the Eslami framework. The data are taken from the movie script and film Raya and The Last Dragon. Data collection were taken using documentation techniques carried out through four stages based on the theory of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana, namely: data collection, data condensation, data presentation, and drawing/ concluding. The results showed that the characters in the films Raya and The Last Dragon used different inviting strategies which consisted of 2 types: direct invitations consisting of performative, declarative, imperative, conditional, and hopeful; and indirect invitations consisting of interrogative WH questions, yes/no questions, and asking for willingness found in the conversations of the characters from Raya And The Last Dragon Movie have 2 intentions, namely genuine intentions and ostensible intentions. In ostensible intentions, there are 3 kinds of intentions, namely pretense, ambivalence, and off-record.
