Abstract
Diarrhea is a disease that originates from drinking water contaminated with E.coli bacteria. The need for drinking water in the community is currently supplied by one of them DAMIU. Refill Drinking Water Depot (DAMIU) is a kind of business that applies techniques for processing raw water into drinking water in bulk form and is sold directly to buyers. DAMIU is responsible for the quality of the treated water so that it is always sterile to consumers. Several DAMIU managers are not good at maintaining water sterilization sanitation hygiene which has the potential to contaminate water. Researchers interested in carrying out this study aimed to find out about the relationship between sanitation efforts and water sterilization methods for the presence of E.coli bacteria in DAMIU in Karanganyar District. This research uses descriptive observational analytic research with a cross-sectional approach. Sampling used a total sampling technique with a total of 12 respondents in which 3 samples were taken for each DAMIU, a total of 36 samples for each DAMIU using a simple random sampling technique. In this study, it was shown that 2 drinking water depots were contaminated with E.coli bacteria, which means that there is a relationship between sanitation hygiene efforts and the presence of E.coli obtained a value (p = 0.021) and there is no relationship between the method of sterilization and the presence of E.coli with a value ( p = 0.248). For this reason, DAMIU managers are expected to maintain the hygienic aspects of their depot's sanitation to meet health requirements to improve the quality of the cleanliness of their drinking water production so that consumers can safely drink the water produced by their depot.
