Abstract
Diarrhea is a disease that originates from contamination of E.coli bacteria in the drinking water currently supplied by one of them, DAMIU. DAMIU is responsible for the quality of the treated water so that it is always sterile until it reaches the consumer. Several DAMIU managers are not good at maintaining sanitation hygiene and water sterilization which have the potential to contaminate water. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between sanitation hygiene efforts and water sterilization methods for the presence of Escherichia coli bacteria in DAMIU. researchers are interested in researching the relationship between sanitation efforts and water sterilization methods on the presence of E.coli bacteria in DAMIU in the Grogol District area, this researcher uses a descriptive observational analytic research type using a cross-sectional approach with a questionnaire method of sanitation hygiene efforts and looking at sterilization methods, Sampling used total sampling and simple random sampling with a total of 12 respondents where 3 samples were taken from each DAMIU, a total of 36 samples from each DAMIU. The results of this study showed that 1 drinking water depot was contaminated with E.coli bacteria, which meant that there was a relationship between sanitation hygiene efforts and the presence of E.coli, which obtained a value (p=0.004) and there was no relationship between the method of sterilization and the presence of E.coli with a value (p = 0.377). DAMIU officers are expected to maintain sanitation hygiene and check and maintain a sterilization filtration system that meets health requirements to improve the quality of cleanliness of drinking water production so consumers don't have to worry when drinking water that has been produced by DAMIU
