Abstract

The aims of this study are to describe the student’s mistakes in completing the word-context problems in the topic of algebra. Analysis framework was developed based on the relational understanding consisting of 5 types of errors which restate a concept, classyfy objects based on the conditions that have shaped the concept have been met, presents the concept in various forms of mathematical representation, associate various mathematical concepts, and apply the concepts algorithms. This research is using qualitative descriptive. The subjects were all students of grade VII C at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura academic year 2021/2022. The data are collected by using test, interview, and documentation. Data validation was done using triangulation method. While the data analysis techniques use reduction, data representation, and conclusion. The results show that the most widely experienced students error are associate various mathematical concepts and apply the concept algorithms. The causes of these errors are students who lack mastery ot the material, students are not careful, students do not check again, and bad habit’s students do not write conclusions
