Abstract

The purpose of this study was to design a micro vertical axis wind turbine (TASV) and optimize the NACA 4412 blade with a variety of circuit angles to obtain optimal performance. Variable measurement is done by developing an Arduino-based digital measurement system. The method used in this research is to take data directly on the wind (wind tunnel), by preparing 2 NACA 4412 airfoils. The circuit angle is set from -5°, 0°, 5°, 10°, 15°, 20°, 25 angles. °, 30°, and 35°. Parameters tobe measured include: Number of blades, turbine rotation, wind speed, power, and several parameters to be calculated include rotation efficiency, Cp (performance coefficient), and TSR (Tip Speed ratio). The test results show that in tests with thenumber of blades 1 and 2, the optimal turbine rotation with 1 blade is at an angle of15° at 513 rpm, while the optimal turbine rotation with 2 blades is at an angle of 15° at 3879 rpm, while the operation of the turbine with a generator is to use 2 blades with an optimal angle of 15° obtained a rotation of 1458 rpm. Optimal powerwith multimeter measurement at 2 blades operation and angle of attack 15° obtained 0.118 W power. For Arduino-based measurements at 15° angle is 0.113 W, with power efficiency seen from good rotation and without generator is 37.59 %. Cp at an angle of 15° with wind speeds of 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10 m/s, respectively 0.000027, 0.000104, 0.000203 and 0.000220. While the TSR in the same operation was obtained at 0.91, 1.06, 1.13 and 1.22.
