Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of using a 28 mm throttle body and a combination of a 28 mm throttle body with ECU remapping on engine performance in terms of torque, power, and Specific Fuel Consumption (SFC) of a 125 cc automatic motorcycle. The research employed an experimental method by comparing three test conditions: standard configuration, 28 mm throttle body, and 28 mm throttle body combined with ECU remapping. Performance testing was conducted using a dynamometer within an engine speed range of 3000–9000 rpm, while fuel consumption testing was carried out to obtain SFC values for each test variation. The results showed that the combination of a 28 mm throttle body and ECU remapping produced the best performance. The highest torque achieved was 15.93 Nm at 3888 rpm (standard: 14.66 Nm at 4136 rpm), while the highest power reached 10.14 HP at 6904 rpm (standard: 9.70 HP at 5656 rpm). In terms of fuel consumption, the lowest SFC value was obtained under standard conditions at 0.12798180 kg/hp·h at 5656 rpm, whereas the 28 mm throttle body and the 28 mm throttle body with ECU remapping produced minimum SFC values of 0.15899420 kg/hp·h and 0.16266670 kg/hp·h, respectively. It can be concluded that the combination of a 28 mm throttle body and ECU remapping provides the highest improvement in engine performance. This occurs because the larger throttle body increases the airflow capacity entering the engine, while ECU remapping adjusts fuel delivery and engine speed limits to optimize the combustion process. As a result, torque and power increase, although accompanied by an increase in specific fuel consumption.
