Abstract

The family is the smallest group in society which is generally formed through marriage ties. Early marriage is a marriage carried out at the age of teenagers who are physically, psychologically, and physiologically not mature enough. Therefore, early marriage can cause family problems due to a lack of knowledge, emotionally immature, and accompanied by unstable attitude. This study aims to describe the dynamics of family resilience who marry at an early age. The informants in this study were 5 people with the characteristics of being married at the age of fewer than 19 years and having been married for at least 2 years. This research is qualitative research using a phenomenological approach. Data collection was taken by semi-structured interview method and analyzed by thematic analysis method. The results showed that early marriage was motivated by internal factors in the form of a desire to marry young and live independently, and supported by internal factors such as economic factors, religion, and parents. Family resilience from the physical aspect in the form of clothing, food, and housing needs can be met from the husband's income, and there is one informant who also works to increase family income. Furthermore, the aspects of health, education, and religion were fulfilled well because the informants taught their children about basic knowledge and religious knowledge. However, the health aspect is not given much attention because they will only go to the doctor when they feel sick. Then from the social aspect, informants are able to interact in the community. Furthermore, from the psychological aspect, they tend to keep their feelings to themselves and silence their partners when there are problems.
