Abstract

Introduction : Cancer is a malignant tumor disease caused by a group of abnormal cells that can spread to healthy organs. Handling commonly used to treat cancer is the method of chemotherapy. Common conditions experienced after undergoing chemotherapy are fatigue, nausea and vomiting, pain, sleep disturbances, depression, and anxiety. Objective: to compare and describe the effect of progressive muscle relaxation on nausea and vomiting in cancer patients with chemotherapy. Methods: this study uses a literature review method based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review (PRISMA) standard, by conducting a search on the Health database, namely: Pubmed, Sciencedirect, ProQuest, Taylor and Francis using the keywords "Progressive Muscle Relaxation" OR "PMR" AND “Nauseous” AND “Vomit” AND “Cancer” AND “Chemotherapy". Results: obtained from 10 research journals with a total of 924 participants with cancer patients receiving chemotherapy. The provision of progressive muscle relaxation therapy has a significant effect on reducing nausea and vomiting in cancer patients after chemotherapy. Conclusion: progressive muscle relaxation therapy can reduce nausea and vomiting in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
